God-Centered Theology Track Bundle Courses
Systematic Theology 1
The Systematic Theology 1 course is an attempt to systematically present what the Apostle Paul called “the whole counsel of God” (Acts 20:27). Students will study biblical topics by examining particular biblical passages, reading through Wayne Grudem’s Systematic Theology, and inspecting the Bethlehem Affirmation of Faith. The student’s learning will be solidified through discussion questions and various homework assignments. This course is the first of two semesters, progressing through roughly the first half of a systematic theology, including the doctrines of Scripture, the Trinity, God’s sovereignty, election, creation, sin, Christology, and soteriology.
Systematic Theology 2
The Systematic Theology 2 course is an attempt to systematically present what the Apostle Paul called “the whole counsel of God” (Acts 20:27). Students will study biblical topics by examining particular biblical passages, reading through Wayne Grudem’s Systematic Theology, and inspecting the Bethlehem Affirmation of Faith. The student’s learning will be solidified through discussion questions and various homework assignments. This course is the second of two semesters, progressing through roughly the second half of a systematic theology, including the doctrines pneumatology, justification, sanctification, ecclesiology, the ordinances, and last things.
Christian Hedonism and the Life of Faith
The Christian Hedonism and the Life of Faith course is an introduction to Christian Hedonism, a philosophy of life that is built on the God of the Bible. The course unfolds two key assertions: 1) the God-centeredness of God informs every aspect of the Christian life; 2) the pursuit of God’s glory and the pursuit of our joy is the same pursuit. Therefore, “God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him.” In this course students will examine key biblical passages and then thoughtfully interact with some of the central writings of John Piper: Desiring God, God Is the Gospel, and Future Grace. Biblical study, critical reflection, and application are all important components of this course.
Sovereignty of God and the Doctrines of Grace
The Sovereignty of God and the Doctrines of Grace course is an attempt to carefully present the biblical teaching on the sovereignty of God in the salvation of sinners. Students will systematically study the five points of Calvinism (Total Depravity, Unconditional Election, Limited Atonement, Irresistible Grace, and Perseverance of the Saints) by examining the relevant biblical passages. The student’s learning will be solidified through answering study questions, considering provocative quotations, and engaging in class discussions. Ultimately, our goal is that students who take this course will be awakened to the glory of God’s sovereign grace.
Introduction to Biblical Manhood and Womanhood
The course Introduction to Biblical Manhood and Womanhood is a biblical study on manhood and womanhood, focusing on the relational dynamics between men and women in the home and in the church. The curriculum introduces the students to the complementarian view and argues that God created men and women equally in the image of God, but that he assigned men and women different roles to fulfill. Students will survey all the major biblical passages on gender, learn to respond to common egalitarian arguments, and begin to apply the beautiful vision of biblical complementarity to their own lives.
God’s Global Glory and Christian Missions
The God’s Global Glory and Christian Missions course advances the truth that God is on a mission to fill the earth with his glory through his redeemed people. The course will assert that preachers of the gospel should be sent to every people group, and will seek to provide a biblical and theological grounding for Christian missions from a God-centered perspective. Students will gain a deeper understanding of this issue by closely examining key biblical passages relevant to the issue of missions, answering provocative questions, and considering sermons and writings from the ministry of John Piper.
