Over the course of 8 modules, students will learn how the gospel impacts and shapes our church communities as you seek to make disciples and reach people where you live, work and minister.

The successful student who enrols and completes all these courses is awarded an unaccredited Crosslands Certificate.

Foundation: The Bible in Missional Perspective

About this Course

Following the themes of God’s people, in God’s place, under God’s rule, Tim Chester walks us through the bible as the story of God's mission to redeem the world through his Son. Along the way you’ll find out why the church is so central to mission, and how to see everyday life through the gospel lens. This course is not only an introduction and refresher on biblical theology, it will cast a vision for mission in everyday life, through the local church.

About this Course

The Christian life is to be lived in the context of community on display to the world. Taking Romans 12 as its key text, this course will help you learn what Christian community should look like and how it is rooted in the gospel. Through the course you’ll be challenged to think about your own role in the church and be helped to build community on mission around the gospel.

About this Course

Everything in church life can and ought to be geared to the mission of saving the lost. However, so much of church life can seem like a distraction from the task. About this Course

When Jesus captivates hearts, and lives are shaped by the gospel, evangelism happens far more naturally and frequently in everyday conversation. This course doesn't teach techniques but a gospel view of everyday life to help Christians help non-Christians to understand the gospel. It gives us a big vision of Jesus and teaches us the benefits of doing evangelism as part of a church community that lives ordinary life with gospel intentionality.

About this Course

Understanding culture is a complex task. Christians have to find points of connection and difference with their cultural context to present the gospel clearly. This course helps with that task but goes further to show us how to do that creatively. This course will stretch you to think biblically and creatively about popular culture. It provides you with a theological tool kit to engage with film, music and computer games.

    Dr. Tim Chester

    Tim Chester is a pastor of Grace Church in Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire, a faculty member of Crosslands. He is the author of over 30 books and commentaries including You Can Change and A Meal with Jesus, as well as being co-author of Total Church.

    Steve Timmis

    Steve Timmis lives in Sheffield, England, where he is a pastor in The Crowded House. He is also the Executive Director of Acts 29. He has co-authored a number of books with Tim Chester, including Total Church,  as well as authoring a couple all on his own – Gospel Centred Leadership and I Wish Jesus Hadn’t Said That!

    Ted Turnau

    Ted teaches cultural and religious studies at the Anglo-American University and cultural studies at the Center for Media Studies at Charles University in Prague. Ted's married to Carolyn, and they have three children, three cats and one rabbit. Ted writes and speaks about faith and culture, and in 2012 published his first book, Popologetics: Popular Culture in Christian Perspective. He's currently working on two other books: one on engaging popular culture with kids, and one on engaging post-Christian culture creatively. Ted enjoys jazz, blues and roots music, good film and television, American football, Japanese samurai and kaiju movies, and anime.

How It Works / FAQs

What is a track?

A track is a collection of courses that the Crosslands Faculty has put together to provide a guided program of study in a specific subject area.

Why should I work to complete a track?

You should work to complete a track if you desire to love Jesus, live by grace and live shaped by the cross and resurrection. The tracks aim to help you understand how God’s Word affects heart change in the context of communities and mission as you develop a 'gospel instinct' for everyday life. Students who successfully complete a track will receive a certificate of completion from Crosslands.

Can I go at my own pace?

Yes. Although a course subscription only provides access to a given course for a set time period, you may take as long as you wish to complete a learning track.

Can I skip certain courses?

In order to complete a learning track and receive a certificate, you must complete every course within that track.

Can anyone receive a certificate of completion?

Yes. Anyone who enrolls in a Crosslands course can work toward earning a certificate of completion.

How do I receive a certificate of completion?

Once you have finished all the courses in a track, you may apply for and receive a certificate of completion.

Is this certificate of completion recognized for credit by colleges and seminaries?

No, the Crossland Foundation Course modules are not currently credit-bearing. If you are interested in pursuing seminary credit for any of these courses, please go to the BibleMesh Institute here.
